State Flag of Colorado
Colorado State Assessment Program- Alternate (CSAPA)
(2002-2005)

• In collaboration with CDE and workgroup members, developed protocols and supplementary materials for the CSAPA grades 5, 6, 8, and 9 reading and writing assessments and revised grades 3, 4, 7, and 10 reading and writing assessments.
• Led the statewide professional development training on the administration and use of the CSAPA.
• Managed internal program coordination including scheduling, budgets, scannable form design, reporting, and materials management.
• Led standard setting sessions using the Bookmark method
• Facilitated report development.
• Assisted with bias and sensitivity reviews.
• Assisted in the development of extended content standards in reading/language arts and mathematics.

Hawaii State Alternate Assessment (HSAA)
(2004-2008)

• Helped write the HSAA Administration Guidebook and test materials.
• Oversaw internal program coordination including building test maps, scoring specifications, preparing report mock-ups, and developing print specifications.
• Led the statewide professional development training on the administration and use of the HSAA.
• Assisted in the alignment (Webb method) studies for the HSAA reading and mathematics. Conducted the alignment study for science.
• Established scoring procedures and developed training for third-party raters.
• Served as the point of contact with the HIDOE concerning alternate assessment.

(2007-2008)

• Facilitates workgroups of parents and teachers to create alternate performance indicators, assessment items, and classroom activities for language arts.

Iowa’s alternate assessment
(2001-2003)

• Collaborated with Department of Education to manage the implementation of statewide portfolio alternate assessment program.
• Developed sample performance tasks for the Task portion of the portfolio assessment.
• Assisted in the establishment of networks of classroom teachers.
• Developed and delivered professional development training.
• Designed scoring guides and other print materials.
• Led regional and centralized scoring by teachers of approximately one thousand portfolios.

Maine Personalized Alternate Assessment Portfolio (PAAP) and Performance Tasks
(2001-2005)

• Collaborated with Department of Education to manage the implementation of statewide portfolio alternate assessment program.
• Coordinated and facilitated advisory committees.
• Assisted in the establishment of networks of classroom teachers.
• Developed and delivered professional development training.
• Designed scoring guides and other print materials.
• Led regional scoring by teachers of more than a thousand portfolios.
• Served as primary developer of Maine’s Personalized Alternate Assessment Performance Tasks for English language arts.

(2007)

• Facilitated workgroups of parents and teachers to create Extended Curriculum Frameworks, assessment items, and classroom activities for high school language arts.
• Conducted the alignment study for the MAAECF in science.

• Participated in Standard Setting utilizing the Reasoned Judgment method.
• Assisted with scoring of electronic portfolios.

• Facilitated standard setting for mathematics using the Bookmark method.
• Assisted with the development of alternate achievement descriptors.

• Assisted with training and scoring for electronic portfolios.
• Oversaw centralized scoring sessions.

South Carolina Palmetto Achievement Challenge Test- Alternate (PACT-Alt)
(1997-2003)

• Implemented the PACT-Alt in special education classroom, providing standards-based instruction and evidence of student performance on state standards.
• Served as a lead scorer and on committees to establish benchmarks and cut scores.
• Assisted with the development of the PACT-alt High School performance tasks.

South Dakota State Test of Educational Progress- Alternate (DSTEP-A)
(2005-2006)

• Served as the main point of contact with the SD DOE staff on the refinement and implementation of the DSTEP-A.
• Assisted in the development of alternate performance indicators (extended content standards) in mathematics and science.
• Served as lead content developer of mathematics indicators in grades k-12.
• Conducted content and bias reviews.
• Led the statewide professional development training on the administration and use of the DSTEP-A.
• Designed scoring guides and other print materials to train scorers.
• Assisted Department of Education staff in preparing documentation for USDOE Peer Review.

• Served as content/process leader for alternate assessment science in a Webb alignment study for grades 4, 8, and 10.

Proficiency Assessments for Wyoming Students- Alternate (PAWS-Alt)
(2005-2006)

• Assisted with the development of alternate performance indicators (extended content standards) in writing and mathematics.
• Worked collaboratively with the Wyoming Department of Education to create an improved alternate assessment consisting of multiple measures including performance tasks, data collection, samples of student work, and systematic observations.
• Assisted Department of Education staff in preparing documentation for USDOE Peer Review.
