Professional Highlights

Porter Palmer has over 20 years of experience working with persons with disabilities of all ages including those with mental disabilities, autism, developmental delays, and deaf-blindness. She has taught students with disabilities in grades 2-12 with an emphasis on the use of technology to increase inclusive opportunities. As a Manager with Discovery Education Assessment LLC, Ms. Palmer works as a developer of standards-based, instructionally sensitive, assessment tools for students with disabilities.

Ms. Palmer has implemented standards-based instruction as a teacher of students with disabilities and worked with clients in the development and administration of alternate assessments across multiple states. The following elaborates on several of the entries in the curriculum vitae of Ms. Palmer concerning alternate assessment projects and related research and assessment development efforts. Based on her practical experiences teaching, developing and managing alternate assessment projects, and providing professional development and training on standards-based instruction, she is considered a national expert on the design, validation, and use of assessments for students with disabilities.
